how intricate the thing called love some say its source is from above symbolically, a simple dove not fowl nor owl
nor angel high can tell the world the reason why
this ace was chosen above the rest to take this blessing in its nest
to guard its secret, they are brave taught to keep it to the grave
though once upon a time ago a birdy told me, so i know the secret of this thing called love
that when you share it all around and keep the world safe and sound and let it in your heart resound
that you will never be alone but, with your own
so try and give the world a chance don’t just frown and give a glance
but smile, and extend your hand to help out your fellow man |

| "[the Vietnam War}didn't change my conclusions about the war being a terrible mistake, but it struck me that opponents to the war, including myself, really did not take into account the fact that there were an awful lot of South Vietnamese who desperately wanted to hang on to what they called freedom. Coming face to face with those sentiments expressed by people who did the laundry and ran the restaurants and worked in the fields was something I was naively unprepared for." |
